Marx Toys produced affordable O-gauge toy trains from the 1930s through the 1970s, making model railroading accessible to American families during the post-war boom. The Cities Service tanker car was part of Marx's freight car lineup, representing real petroleum transport cars used by the Cities Service Oil Company, a major American petroleum company that operated from 1910 to 1983.
