Miniature cast iron stoves like this Crescent model were produced primarily in the early to mid-20th century, serving dual purposes as both salesman's samples and children's toys. These detailed replicas were used by traveling salesmen to demonstrate full-sized stove features to potential buyers, while also being sold as high-quality toys that allowed children to mimic adult cooking activities.
